Progressives are being hammered at the RNC and though the Democrats will get their turn, it is illustrative to watch how they react to the cascade of criticism. At a nearby fund raiser concert in Cleveland, alternative music band Third Eye Blind turned their appearance into a campaign proxy for Hillary, altering some of their lyrics to highlight their disagreements with Republicans who they knew would be in their audience. When some walked out and others made note of their unhappiness that the band would use a fundraiser for their own aggrandizement, the band leaders said, 'Raise your hand if you believe in science!" This is the Progressive fallback position, when the logic and pragmatism of Republican policies can't be denied or proven fallacious, it behooves the liberals and their misinformed certitude to suggest that all of their favorite social conventions are based on science, implying Republicans base their positions on superstition, religious dogma and hate. We have science on our side, we must be right! Millennial progressives believe they are the best educated generation, the most open minded, the most compassionate and are not afraid to tell anyone who will listen. In fact, they believe it is their duty to use condescension to browbeat those they are convinced are ignorant and genetically inclined (white people) to be racist. So while inside the Republican convention, speaker after speaker talks about greatness, opportunity, unity in purpose, liberty and justice for all, the Progressive demonstrators burn flags, support academic censorship of conservative points of view, demonize and slander the reputations of mothers of soldiers who died in service to their country. When the audience at the concert began to boo, Third Eye Blind lead singer Steven Jenkins said, "You can boo all you want, but I'm the motherf**king artist up here!" That remains to be scientifically proven. ![]() Isn't it interesting that when Democrats are confronted with something or someone they cannot argue with, they choose, instead to just attack their character. So if we are to believe them, everyone on the planet who disagrees with their politics is a sleezebag. There could be no better example of this left wing strategy then the way the DNC and the mainstream press reacted to Melania Trump's incredibly well delivered speech at the opening day of the Republican Convention in Cleveland. Ignoring her awesome message of how a young immigrant girl, born in a communist country to modest means parents, was able to work her way through the tough tides of the fashion industry and eventually face the potential of becoming the First Lady of the United States of America, instead critics focused only on the passages of her speech that appear to have been lifted from previous speeches. Then she went on to testify about the heart and commitment she has witnessed in DJT, and how he will not quit or let us down. I have to admit I was nervous for her as The Donald lead her to the podium, being that she still has a rather noticeable eastern european accent to her speech, and that speaking before millions of people isn't something she could be used to. Boy, was I surprised, as I know Democrats were, when in a strong, articulate and extremely well timed delivery, she used her excellent English skills, more precise and clear than any of the other native speakers who had come before her, and she knocked it out of the park! Great job by a very classy and well spoken Trump family member that the Democrats never saw coming! ![]() American's have our political and religious differences, but we respect the opposition. We beat each other up, in the marketplace of ideas. But we don't accept outright hatred as a part of the process. We don't create institutional policies that codify the elimination of opposing parties or religious groups. America is married to diversity. Suppressing opposition is something done in other countries where respect for human liberty is virtually non-existent; where death is glamorized as an act of religious faith; where tolerance for other religions is considered a crime; where victimization is taught as religious doctrine. That is what they do in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Now Turkey is at a turning point, and we should get a divorce. At least from the duplicitous regime of Recep Erdogan anyway. Erdogan is an anti semite and a closet Islamic radical who plays us for financial and military support, using Obama's pacifism as a shield to keep himself in power while the Jihadi caliphate is waging war on virtually all of his neighbors. He knows we need Turkey as a strategic partner, so he panders to Obama, while slowly deconstructing the secular democracy in Turkey, morphing it into a Sharia hybrid, using his personally controlled State Police to suppress opposition. I get nauseated when I see our President cozying up to colossal bigots such as the Prime Minister of Turkey, who has in the past, suggested that the Israeli military actions in Gaza "surpasses Hitler in barbarism." For all we know, Erdogan secretly promoted a poorly planned coup among some of his opposition in the armed forces, knowing he could wipe them out and establish a 'Martial Law' of sorts, further advancing his goal of implementing strict Islamic code. America, and our foreign policy, needs a divorce from bigots like Erdogan, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. In my book, I point out that there should only be one goal in the War On Terror: To end it by any means necessary. Any other objective is delusional and pointless. "We were never at war with the Japanese people, the German or Italian people. We were at war with their extremist leadership. Unfortunately, those leaders were using their people as pawns, and they were victimized and they suffered. Muslims are facing a similar conundrum with the Jihadist extremists. It is not up to the defenders of freedom to separate the wheat from the chaff. It is our duty to end the terror, period. It is up to Muslims to separate the peaceful from the psychopaths." Perhaps the Turkish military has decided to do just that. The time will come when our American leaders will have to come to the same conclusion. The question is, how much carnage will it take to motivate them? |
