Former Mayor Bob Filner has had a bad year. Now we find out he is using his medications as a reason for his unbelievably stupid misuse of power in the form of sexual harassment and verbal abuse of many of his mostly female employees.
He is taking no less than five powerful, mood altering drugs. We are not privileged to his health conditions, but based on the list of drugs submitted to the court, he is pretty loaded most of the time! These drugs, for the most part are designed to alleviate or control anxiety disorders. All of the drugs have similar potential side effects: nausea, diarrhea, nervousness, headache, moodiness, excessive bruising, bleeding, inability to focus, and confusion. Well, he may or may not have been influenced to act brutish by some of these drugs, but either way, it seems to me anyone who is taking drugs for depression, stress, anxiety, and bladder infections, probably shouldn’t be in charge of the seventh largest city in America anyway. Is this common? Do we have a OTC drug problem with government leaders? Is there any way to find out, or do we have to wait for a calamity to occur before any of these truths come out? This is really scary! Maybe it's necessary for us all to demand our politicians get regular surprise drug tests just like most employees of corporations in this country. |
