 Growing up, I loved watching FBI movies and TV shows, which like most entertainment had the good guys always win in the end. Sure, it was also fun to watch gangsters shoot it out using Tommy-guns, and, of course the gangsters always had the hottest girlfriends. But there was something very assuring about knowing the good guys were looking out for our best interests. Whether it was Bonny and Clyde, John Dillinger or Baby Face Nelson or some snake-in-the-grass Russian spy, I felt more secure knowing we had Elliot Ness on our side. But as the years have passed and the Bureau has become increasingly politicized, I am not too sure anymore whose side they are on, and if they are seriously trying to protect us, or, conversely, trying to socially direct us. Bill Gertz posting on the Washington Free Beacon reported that an internal FBI intelligence report concluded in its 2013 assessment published this month that the threat to U.S. internal security 'from extremists is limited to attacks and activities by eight types of domestic extremist movements--none motivated by radical Islam.' They include anti-government militia groups and white supremacy extremists, along with “sovereign citizen” nationalists, and anarchists. 'Other domestic threat groups outlined by the FBI assessment include violent animal rights and environmentalist extremists, black separatists, anti- and pro-abortion activists, and Puerto Rican nationalists.' The report rated the threat from all domestic radicals as 'medium.' On black separatists, the report warned that “high-profile racially charged crimes or events” could lead to an expansion of black separatist groups. The report identified three black separatist groups as the New Black Panther Party, the Israelite Church of God in Jesus Christ, and the Black Hebrew Israelite group. This past month's events in Missouri definitely established an underlying anger in the black community. No doubt out of that some pretty nasty violence may come. But compared to the worldwide efforts of fanatical cults that are extremely well funded, have some state complicity, and are increasingly directing their efforts to recruit domestically, how can the FBI so cavalierly dismiss the enormity of the Islamic Jihad threat to American citizens? Is it possible that the FBI is focusing an inordinate amount of attention on the Black Hebrew Israelite-type groups because of their well known abhorrence and hate for homosexuality? Has the influence of the gay lobby managed to work it's way into our domestic defense policy to the degree that political correctness has blinded government agencies from seeing the forrest for the trees? At any rate, there is something really wrong with the FBI's blind spot to Islamic extremism as a threat to America.They just aren't the G-Men they used to be... Getting old is something we all do. It seems like it becomes all consuming at some point. When I get together with friends, the conversation inevitably gets around to our forgetfulness, our prescriptions, our latest ailments and who recently passed away.
I was perusing the Sunday paper and found 'The American Profile' magazine inside. It is an 8 X 11 promotional piece that offers little stories about the American experience, like a childs first day at school. But mostly, it is about advertising. What's interesting is who the advertising is aimed at and what they are selling: Hearing aids, portable oxygen systems, earphones for private TV listening, safety walk-in bathtubs, Pain relievers, no-contract, simplified cell phones with large displays, and of course products to remove bunions or reduce discomfort from crooked toes! This publication must be a cash hog! These ads are large, full color half or full page ads. They wouldn't be appearing week after week if they didn't produce results! It really annoys me that I found myself carefully reading all of them. What's next, am I going to order some of this stuff? If I do, I will never admit to my old geezer friends, that's for sure. I am going to have too much fun making fun of the magazine at the next party I go to. There are very few people in the world who have such a positive effect on EVERYONE they encounter. Add to that skill a creative ability to illustrate complex social issues in a masterful storytelling combination of communication skills, and you have Robin. Truly a National Treasure we can share with the World, and will continue to use to remind us of our strengths and weaknesses, our love of humor and our humility. 
I was hoping to hear our President , when commenting on the atrocious beheading of journalist James Foley, say something like: "Let me be clear; the subhuman terrorists who did this are now walking dead. They will not get away with these barbaric, uncivilized war crimes. Period. As President of the United States of America and the Commander-in-Chief of our Military, I will not tolerate using Americans as props for sick Jihadist propaganda. I am putting you on notice that the clock is ticking. Starting now, you are Dead Men. You will be extinguished, either sooner or later. You can start counting your days now, because you will be dead soon. In our country, because we are civilized and compassionate, not all States enforce the Death Penalty. But, in reaction to uncivilized acts of war crimes, acts that are clearly committed as acts of pure terrorism, that have no concern for the innocence of the victims, we will circumvent the conventions of criminal justice procedures. We consider these circumstances as the actions of war. The opportunity to stop and submit these incidents to the conventions of street crimes is not an effective or strategic option. We will react to these war crimes as though we are engaged in the theater of war. It is either us or you, at this moment, and I am telling you what the result is going to be. We reserve the right to protect our innocent citizens from war crimes, and to suppress any agents of terror who are directly involved with those actions. We don't accept the torture and murder of our citizens as a political act. It is an act of war. Period. It is no different than taking a member of our military hostage; We don't distinguish between citizen hostages and military hostages. We don't leave anyone behind, and those that defile, torture or kill our citizens will pay the ultimate price. We will track them down. and hold them, and their brothers-in-arms, responsible. Period.....End of story. As President of the United States of America. I don't have to apologize for America's reputation for fighting to protect and support Freedom, and Justice. Those people who think that we will stand by while they trample human rights, use hostages to gain financial or political advantage, ignore civilized norms of protest and civil disobedience, are living in a bubble of ignorance. I am here to to inform you, America won't stand by and let you use our citizens in your cynical propaganda campaign. We are coming after you right now. We are on a wartime mission. Your life is over, you can count on us, we will kill you soon! Whatever you thought you were going to accomplish with your kidnapping, violence and intimidation, will be terminated soon. Let me be clear, you will not be around to see the end of this Jihad. Justice knows no borders. America is not ever going to be intimidated or deterred. You take one of us, you will pay with your life, and maybe even more. Period. Got it? Think about it....do you really want to 'F' with America? Before you go down that road, you might want to talk to Germany or Japan." |
