Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year show will honor only one man this year! Guess who that might be?
If you said DJT, you would be wrong!
Barbara will spend the entire hour talking to the one man in America that has changed the way many Americans think about Washington, about politics, about foreign policy, about racism, nepotism, narcissism, and liberalism. He was the first national media personality to recognize the growing appeal of Donald Trump, and while musing about Trump's unlikely journey, soon became a real believer that Trump had history on his side.
She will ask him how he came to be considered the most innovative person in the media...how he came to be so culturally influential, so accurate about social trends, and why he has twenty million people listening to every word he says, daily!
Barbara Wa Wa will be featuring El Rushbo, America's Anchorman, the Mayor of Realville, the CEO and Head Professor of the Excellence In Broadcasting University and it's EIB Radio Network of over 600 AM radio stations across the nation. She will try to 'understand' Rush Limbaugh, the self appointed conscience of the Republican Party and the conservative movement in America.
Rush Limbaugh would never take credit for the rise of Trump, but other than DJT, only Rush can honestly say he was singularly responsible for explaining, enlightening and properly framing the unorthodox campaign that Trump created. While most media analysts were focusing on the battle between Bernie and Hillary, or the painfully steady decline of 16 well qualified Republican candidates, Rush was filtering and pointing out the press bias and how Trump was bypassing them, using his brash public speaking ability and social media skills to take his message directly to the people. He correctly identified Trumps total abandonment of traditional campaign techniques, of the normal polling processes, and how the other candidates seemed stuck in a time warp, acting and talking just like every outdated political insider ever did.
While Limbaugh has had over twenty five years to attract and enlighten his enormous audience, his efforts in 2016 should go down in broadcast, and maybe even political, history as the most informative and illustrative mass communication ever broadcast. His claim that his show is the Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies may sound egotistical, but many listeners will tell you that it was Rush that opened their eyes to the soft bigotry, inner party bullying and false promises of liberalism.
It was nothing less than brave for Rush to test the trust of his audience because early on, The Donald was pretty far out of the mainstream. Knowing that Trump has always been an avid listener, I think it is very reasonable to assume that the Trump camp took much of what Limbaugh said to heart.
So Barbara, who had already decided who her annual list would consist of prior to the election, and who was going to anoint Hillary as the year's Most Fascinating Individual, had to reedit, no, recreate, the entire New Years Eve program, and as you can imagine, there was no way in hell that she was going to make the show about Trump.
In the end though, by default, I think she just may have got it right after all!
P.S., if you saw this on Facebook, you might want to fact check it….
