The World Needs Relief

Another celebrity telethon (Hillary Swank Saves the Rescue Dogs!), roast, fundraiser, or relief concert! Just what the world needs now as we watch a near daily parade of sickening beheadings orchestrated on social media and leading the news cycle.

OK, Ebola is dangerous. Hurricanes and earthquakes displace millions of people. Starvation is still common in certain areas of the World. 

We get that. 

Western Civilization is leading the way in every concievable way to develop new drugs, to grow more food, to warn people in advance of weather condidtions and earthquakes. Almost on every level, private and government agencies, to the tune of billions of dollars and the unbelievable dedication of scientists around the world,are trying! 

And music has a way of pulling people together to raise relief funds to help deliver needed services and drugs. Awesome!

So what are we doing to stop the march of radical Islamic fundamentalism? The pandemic escalation of  needless murder and terrorism of innocents around the World?

Why aren't we hearing any efforts to fight this cancer from the entertainment industry? They seem to be all over breast cancer, hurricane, flood, tsunami and earthquake relief. 

As we watch innocent humanitarians, journalists and doctors being beheaded on television and social media almost daily, where are the Hillary Swank's, Morgan Freemen's, Matt Damon's. Ben Affleck's, and the Rock and Roll giants like Bono and Bob Geldorf?

Where is the righteous indignation?

Isn't the hijacking of the Religion of Peace as horrendous and dangerous and debilitating to the human condition as a Tsunami? Isn't it a little like a slow motion Tsunami where all of the death and destruction occurs in high definition, super slow motion? We see the tragedy of suicide bombers walking into Synagogues and blasting the entire congregation to pieces, and people being lined up in front of ditches and executed just as the Nazis did during the Holocaust. 

Like a Tsunami, radical fundamentalism is a rising tidal wave, a flood of mentally ill maniacs whose very reason to live is to cause mayhem and death. The only way to deal with it is either prevent it in the first place or rebuild afterward. The latter is the worst choice, so in order to deal with it beforehand, it needs to be made 'uncool.'

Who better to handle that challenge than the purveyors of cool, Hollywood!
I am calling for a World Relief Concert.
